What’s it like?

Magnificent country roamed by rich and diverse wildlife including 1,000s of Red Deer , overflown by many rare birds including Eagles and Osprey, the latter hunting in the best salmon and trout fishing fast moving streams in the glens, surrounded by a very special coast full of sandy beaches, coves and spectacular granite geology, oh, and yes, visited by 1,000s of seals and cruised around by many Dolphin’s and even Whales occassionally!

Too much to do and see – stay with us for 2 weeks at least!!

Golf, Links Golf and the Open

There are 27 Golf Clubs within within a 10mile radius of the City including many spectacular links courses. Regular host to the Scottish open, Castle Stewart is nearby Inverness on the road to the airport, within 45 minutes drive north of Inverness takes you to Royal Dornoch Championship course.

Dolphins and other Seaside Wildlife

Moray Firth Bottlenose Dolphins, Whales, Seals and a wide selection of sea life and birds to watch are available across the beaches. A few miles south Dolphin Cruises set out from Avoch on the Black Isle and can be seen from the shore at Channory Point where this photo of the leaping dolphin was taken.

Highland Beaches

The Highlands have a wealth of coastline styles with miles of virgin sands on the East Coast from the Moray Coast to Nairn, the Black Isle to the North and further North and West coasts have many sandy and secluded rocky coves. Surfing is available and popular on many.

Day Trips to the West Highlands

West Highland’s Locations profit from the gulf stream to provide superb, almost tropical plants in places coupled with a dramatic craggy coastline and spectacular sunsets like this one at Scourie. Ullapool, Wester Ross and the Isle of Skye are all well within an day trip from the B&B.

Picture shows Chapel built by Italian PoWs, but Orkney has several millennium of history with Scara Brae showing a settlement approximately 5,000 years old and the ancient Standing Stones of Stenness.
